Today was all about Matisse!

Matisse used brightly coloured paper to cut out random shapes and then stuck them down to create a colourful collage.

Sam and Ashley remembered his name was Henri, and he came from France. Excellent reading today.

Both learners really got into this technique very quickly. Sam created some brilliant shapes and really thought about where he was going to stick the pieces before he glued them down.

Ashley panicked a little when I said the shapes needed to be random. He wanted to draw the shapes first and then cut them out. After I had shown Ashley how to cut the shapes without a pencil line first, he became confident enough to do it without following a line!

The learners created some brilliant patterns, and started to overlap pieces, and experiment with different shapes.

Great work you two! Next week- Silly Picasso faces!
